Embedded vs Aggregate Deductibles
Embedded deductible (separatored) means so no one family member can contribute more than the single amount toward the family deductible. ($2,000/$4,000 deductible) One person in a family pays up to $2,000. the rest of the family would taken on the remaining $2000 deductible to equal $4,000.
Aggregate deductibles (combined) are used in HSA health plans where one member of a family can take on the entire family deductible. $2,000/$4,000. One member can pay $4,000.
