On and Off Exchange Health Plans - New Jersey
Open Enrollment begins Nov 1st & ends December 15th for plans starting January 1st. During Open Enrollment, you can renew your plan, compare plans and change plans or insurance carriers. If you don't have insurance, this would be the time to enroll in a health plans for the upcoming year.
Once Open Enrollment closes for the year, December 15th, you can only enroll if you have a Qualifying Event known as a Special Election Period, SEP. Please contact me to discuss eligibility.
On & Off Exchange Healthcare Marketplace, what's the difference?
Off-Exchange health plans are available outside the public
exchange environment, the open market. Enrolling in an off-exchange Individual health plan does not require Healthcare.gov.
On-Exchange health plans are also known as Obamacare. If you qualify for a premium subsidy, then enrolling on-exchange is your best option. Eligibility and subsidy amount is based on your household size and household income. Healthcare.gov is required for determining eligibility, online enrollment, uploading required financial and tax docs, renewal process, member maintenance, etc...
