- Since you are staying with the same carrier, continue to use your current ID card until the new one arrives.
If you are changing carriers,
- Notify your employees that the health plan and carrier will be changing.
- Notfy them of the effective date.

Additional Steps:
- Make sure employees fill prescriptions for the upcoming next month.
- Advise employees to inform their healthcare providers of the new insurance.
- If an employee has a pre-authorization for a procedure, the employee will need the new carrier to pre-authorize the procedure. Notify your doctor of the pending change so the procedure can pre-authorized by the new insurance carrier.
- Once you have your Group # or Individual ID #, you can contact Member Services at the insurance carrier for Member Service questions.
- Once your policy is approved ID cards take 10-12 business days by mail. It is recommended to access your new online Member Service portal to print off temporary ID cards online.
